
Dr Birbal Genani killed, lady doctor wounded in Karachi gun attack
KARACHI: An eye special Dr Birbal Genani has been killed and a lady doctor sustained injuries in a gun attack by unidentified assailants in Karachi, ARY News reported on Thursday.
Unidentified assailants opened fire at a vehicle on Garden Lyari Expressway, leaving a renowned ophthalmologist Dr Birbal dead and a lady doctor injured.
Dr Birbal Genani was the former director of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and he also performed duties as the head of the Spencer Eye Hospital. He also runs a private clinic in the Ranchore Line area of Karachi.
The incidents of target killing are continuously rising in the metropolis.

Earlier in the month, religious scholar Maulana Abdul Qayyum Sufi was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Karachi.
Maulana Abdul Qayyum Sufi, who is a member of the Pakistan Ulema Association, was targeted in Karachi s Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 9 area.
The police said the religious scholar was shot dead by two armed men riding a motorcycle when he was returning home after leading Fajar prayers. The deceased was also head of the Noorani Islamic Centre at Jamia Masjid Muhammadia.

Moreover, another religious leader Saleem Khatri was shot dead near Bilal Colony in Karachi by four suspects riding on bikes.
In February, unidentified armed men killed the vice chairman of the Federation of Private Schools, Syed Khalid Raza, outside his residence in Karachi, ARY News reported on Sunday.
The firing incident took place in the Gulistan-e-Johar Block 7 area of Karachi. Police said that the slain man was identified as Khalid Raza. Police detailed that unidentified armed men targeted Raza at the doorstep of his house.
