ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed for the cancellation of bail of Hassaan Niazi – the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

A duty magistrate had approved the bail plea of Hassaan Niazi in a case registered at the Ramna police station.

The petition stated that Niaz s bail was approved without listening to the arguments of the prosecutor, whereas, the honourable court was bound to hear the prosecutor s arguments before giving its verdict.

It further stated that the prosecutor was working in more than five courts but he was not informed about the bail plea. It added that the accused was nominated in the First Information Report (FIR) after he allegedly attempted to crush the policemen under his vehicle.

The Additional Sessions Judge Sikandar Khan will hear the petition challenging Niazi s bail on March 30.

Earlier in the day, the Karachi police took custody of Hassaan Khan Niazi, nephew of PTI Chairman Imran Khan after an anti-terrorism court granted his two-day transit remand to Sindh police.

The District East Police took Niazi s custody for interrogation in case lodged against him on the complaint of a citizen named Muhammad Iqbal in the Jamshaid Quarters police station.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hassaan Niazi and his accomplices have been booked in a separate case in Karachi for inciting people to revolt against national institutions.

According to the text of the FIR, Hassaan Niazi was involved in inciting people to revolt against national institutions and attempted to provoke disharmony in a video on social media. The statement has created anger and distress among the masses, the FIR further said.

It is important to mention here that Barrister Hassan, the nephew of former prime minister Imran Khan, was first arrested by Islamabad police from outside Judicial Complex, despite securing bail.
